Conforming loan limit
Definition
The conforming loan limit is the maximum loan amount Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac can buy, set annually by the FHFA. For 2026 the baseline limit for a one-unit property is $832,750, with higher limits in designated high-cost areas. Loans above the local limit are jumbo loans with their own underwriting.
